Mario Botta is credited with the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. He was born in Switzerland and trained as a drafts-man and was privileged enough to work with Le Corbusier and Louis Kahn. Botta believes his work to have more social and moral value than aesthetic. The MoMA exemplifies these characteristics and set an interesting tone for the city.

Michael Graves is an American architect who designed The Team Disney building in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. The seven dwarfs (19 feet tall) serve as caryatids for the somewhat classical facade.

As a kid, the Indianapolis-born Graves spent countless hours drawing. "The more I did, the better I got," he says. "I wasn't good at much else." His mother panicked when he said he wanted to be an artist, telling him, "Unless you're as good as Picasso, you'll starve." She suggested he consider careers that use drawing - engineering and architecture - and when he investigated each, he chose architecture. You can now find many of his designs at your local Target store.

"Michael Graves is a rare individual who finds equal wonder in things both large and small. As one of our century's most important designers and architects, he has said he gets as much pleasure planning a large building as he does designing a spatula."

Frank Gehry born in 1929, is an award winning architect with many famous buildings around the world. A young Gehry started designing buildings in his grandfathers hardward store out of steel and other remnants.
